IRVINE STAKE BLOOD DRIVE

WHEN: Check Back for the Next Blood Drive Date
WHERE: Irvine Stake Center, 23 Lake Road, Irvine, CA MAP

Come help the American Red Cross provide blood to those who are in need.  It's really simple, you just lie down for awhile, and then they give you cookies and punch.  What could be better than that?  Except to know that you have helped save a life.

Every day in Orange County 1000 units of blood is needed. And right now the need is greater.  To help you decide whether you are eligible to give blood, here are a few of the restriction that apply (a more complete list is available when you sign up):

  • You must be at least 17 years of ages.

  • If you have an infection, sore throat, cough, etc, you might want to wait until you're feeling better.

  • If you are taking antiviral medication for any reason, you must wait 48 hours after the last dose before you can donate blood.

  • If you are currently on antibiotics for anything other than acne or infection prevention, you must wait until the infection is gone and you have been off the medication for at least 48 hours.

  • We hope we don't have to worry about these next three, but if you have been taking 'street' drugs via the nasal passages, have recently been tattooed, or had any body part pierced in an unsanitary condition, you must wait 12 months before donating blood.

  • If you have spent a total of 6 months in the United Kingdom between 1980 and 1986, you may not give blood.

  • You must not donate blood if any of the following apply.
    - You've ever injected illegal drugs
    - Received Chemotherapy
    - Had Viral Hepatitis at or after age 11
    - Weigh less than 110 lbs

  • If you have traveled to an area where Malaria may have occurred.  For a complete list of those countries, please see the sign up list.
